I can suggest a series of books, The Mary Frances Series. They are how to books which are wrapped around a topic, knitting & crochet, sewing, cooking, gardening & housekeeping. I don’t think you could get through them all (or even one!) in a month if you try to do all of the projects but they certainly give you a feel for life then. There are projects with full instructions & the stories centre around a little girl. These books were written in the early 20th century. ~Elizabeth
